Mortal Kombat Vita runs at 60 FPS, has second Challenge Tower

The PlayStation Vita edition of Mortal Kombat is sporting every feature and fighter from the PS3 version plus more. Recently, Mortal Kombat series co-creator Ed Boon revealed a few of the additions you’ll see in Mortal Kombat Vita.

For those who conquered the Challenge Tower, Mortal Kombat Vita has a second Challenge Tower with 150 new tasks that utilize Vita’s touch screens and accelerometer. Boon teased one challenge lets you change gravity by tilting your Vita.

Players can use the touch screen to pull off X-Ray attacks and Fatalities. While X-Rays are executed by simply tapping on the meter, you’ll have to swipe the screen in the appropriate directions to do a Fatality. Some of the harder Fatalities are easier to pull off when using the touch screen.

If you’re coming from the PS3 version, you’ll be happy to know Mortal Kombat Vita runs at 60 frames per second. Boon didn’t want the Vita version to feel sluggish for anyone who already played the game before.

Mortal Kombat Vita ships out to retailers in Spring 2012.
