The Last of US PS3 exclusive from Naughty Dog

Uncharted dev’s next game revealed at VGAs.

Naughty Dog has revealed The Last of Us, the Uncharted dev’s next big PS3 exclusive. The game features and man and young girl who must survive a United States decimated by plague. The two must work together to travel across what remains of the US.

“The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind,” said Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells on the official PlayStation Blog. “Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.”

Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann (creative director) and Bruce Straley (game director) are leading the project, with Naughty Dog working as a two-team studio. No release date has been announced.

The trailer is all made up of real-time footage and looks up to Naughty Dog’s usual high standard. The reveal of the city at the end of the released footage certainly has an I Am Legend feel to it, but it remains to be seen how much exploring can be done.
