PS3 Exclusive The Last of Us Teased in Uncharted 3

PS3 Exclusive The Last of Us Teased in Uncharted 3

It all started when Geoff Keighley teased an upcoming reveal of a PS3 exclusive title at this year’s VGAs.  Since then, fans have assumed that the reveal would be for a game called The Last of Us, which made a sudden appearance earlier this week.  Despite early rumors, no one really knew what the game was or what it was about.

As it turns out, PS3 users who played Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception might have had some early access to the PS3 exclusive this whole time - or at least a better idea of what it would be about.

The keen eye of a player has spotted what appears to be a teaser for the The Last of Us hidden in Uncharted 3.

The video shows a newspaper in Uncharted 3 with the headline “Scientists are still struggling to understand deadly fungus.” Check it out below.

This coincides with images revealed yesterday of the game showing another newspaper with a headline that reads, “The President addresses a panicked nation as millions are feared dead or infected”.

But before these images were two teaser videos that really fueled speculation.  One was a video montage showing random clips of riots and mass chaos; the other was a video of an ant that was found to be a clip from an episode of BBC Planet Earth that focuses on cordyceps, a fungus that gets into ants, takes over their brains, and grows inside them until it kills them.

Now we know, or at least can strongly hypothesize from all of these recent findings, that The Last of Us will be some type of horror/thriller game about a virus outbreak infecting humanity - probably similar to the Resident Evil games or Will Smith’s I am Legend.
