Sony Teases New PS3 Exclusive, ‘The Last of Us’

We’re a little less than a week away from the premiere of the Spike Video Game Awards, but that hasn’t stopped Sony from teasing a new PlayStation 3 exclusive they plan to champion at the upcoming award ceremony. Say hello to “The Last of Us,” a game that looks to take place in a futuristic dystopia where it’s impossible to get one day of rest and relaxation (if the below trailer is any indication).

We’re probably going to have to wait until this coming Saturday to learn more concrete details about The Last of Us, but the Internet is already attempting to suss out the deets. For example, the end of the above teaser trailer points viewers to the game’s official website ( where you’ll find a short video of an ant dying by what looks like a painful spore bursting through its head. Apparently, this is an abridged clip from one of the Planet Earth specials where a deadly fungus grows inside insects, uses mind control to get them into a suitable location, then bursts out of their head like some sort of god damn alien in hopes of infecting more insects.

So, how does this relate to The Last of Us? Well, some believe the game will revolve around a killer fungus that infects humanity and uses mind control to drive them insane, as the above teaser trailer demonstrates.

It might seem far fetched, but it’s not as bad as M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening, where plants got pissed at humanity for decades of abuse and decided to exact their revenge. Now that was stupid.

We’ll know more about The Last of Us come December 10th when the Video Game Awards air on Spike.
