Daytona USA coming to PS3, Xbox 360 this month

Daytona USA, Sega’s classic 1993 arcade racer, is headed to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this month with refreshed features for modern consoles.

While the game’s original polygonal graphics will remain the same as before, the game will now support 16:9 widescreen. Also included will be online multiplayer via Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. Moreover, steering wheel support is in place (how could it not be?) on both systems. PS3 owners can use only the Gran Turismo-branded Logitech GT Driving Force wheel, while Xbox 360 owners can use any system-supported wheel.

Gameplay-wise, things are mostly the same with the exception of the new online multiplayer. Arcade, Survival, and Time Trial modes will be available, keeping in line with previous home releases of the game in the 90s on the Saturn and Dreamcast.

The price for the game will generally be around $10. The Xbox Live Arcade version can be had for 800 Microsoft Points (equivalent to $10) or $9.99 on the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus members get a discount down to $6.99. For those looking for a dose of Daytonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa nostalgia, a trailer for the new release is included below.

Daytona USA hits the PlayStation Store on October 25 and Xbox Live Arcade on October 26 for the US. It arrives in Europe in November.
