Uncharted 3 next in line to require PSN Pass

Drake walking in desert

Uncharted 3 will be the second PS3-exclusive game to use the company’s PSN Pass. The PSN Pass is a one-time-use code that will come with new copies of the game. It enables players to access the multiplayer components in Uncharted 3, which is something Naughty Dog and Sony have been promoting. This confirmation comes from an interview conducted by The Vault with the manager of software for Sony Spain, Juan Jimenez.

The PSN Pass is simply a way for Sony to put a dent in used game sales and combat piracy. Sony is making sure that if copies of its triple-A titles are purchased secondhand, the buyer will need to pay a little extra to access all the game’s content. In this case, that extra cost is $10.

Uncharted 3‘s multiplayer is also getting more publicity than most games. Sony and Naughty Dog are currently running a promotion with Subway that started on October 1. Anyone who purchases a specially marked 30-ounce drink will get a code to download Uncharted 3‘s multiplayer that will last throughout October. The items and stats that are earned in October will also carry over to the full game when it’s released on November 1.
