Dead or Alive 5 Announced for Xbox 360 and PS3

Team Ninja will move ahead with the Dead or Alive series even with Tomonobu Itagaki no longer around, just as it has with the Ninja Gaiden series. Dead or Alive 5 is officially in the works for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as the pre-alpha trailer above shows.

The game’s key concept is said to be “fighting entertainment.” According to IGN, it was promised that environments are to play a more prominent role; they’re not just “sidekicks” anymore. This is demonstrated to some extent in the video with Ryu Hayabusa and Hayate fighting it out on a rooftop while a lot goes on in the background, such as a huge beam swinging around and destroying whatever gets in its way.

Details are fairly scant at this point, but we do know the game will be out sometime in 2012. For now, keep rewatching that trailer and check out the teaser image below.
