Dead Island PS3, Xbox 360 pre-order sales haunt top 20

Pre-order sales for Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Dead Island for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 ranked in the top 20 at GameStop Corp.’s online division this week due to high pre-order demand.

The Dead Island Xbox 360 SKU ranked as the No. 5 best-selling product in the same period. Inc. this week is offering a Digital Art Book with the pre-order purchase of Dead Island.

Dead Island, to be sold Sept. 6, is a first-person zombie action title that includes melee combat, thousands of in-game weapons, and open-world setting, and co-op multiplayer for up to four users.

The final game is said to include weapon customization, leveling system, and unlockable skill trees.

It carries a pre-sale price of $59.99.

Sony in May began sale of the PS3 160GB Call of Duty: Black Ops Bundle, which includes the PS3 160GB hardware, a copy of Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, the Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC Pack, and a Dualshock 3 Controller at $299.99.

Microsoft in Sept. will sell a new limited edition Xbox 360 320GB Gears of War 3 Bundle at $399.99.

In 2012 it will sell the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Star Wars Kinect Bundle at $449.99.

Current Xbox 360 stand-alone SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB hardware at $299.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB hardware at $199.99.

Bundle SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Special Edition Bundle at $399.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect bundle at $299.99.
