PSP Ad Hoc Party North America Inbound

ahoc-thumbKeep hearing your friends talk about this Japanese Adhoc Party, and that they can use their PS3 to play other PSP friends? Well now North America is finally getting PSP Adhoc Party, which as described before will let you use your PS3 as a portal to play other PSP friends with the same game. The PSP has two modes to play on the internet Ad Hoc and Infrastructure. Infrastructure mode lets players connect through the internet, but Ad Hoc mode is local only, or at least it was. The PSP adhocParty, will allow select games that normally are for LAN play only to connect via the PlayStation Network, using the PlayStation 3 as a bridge, therefore allowing you to play any of your PSP friends. Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA says, “AdhocParty for the PSP system creates an avenue for gamers to connect, strategize, and compete with each other – Gran Turismo is a great example of this. Polyphony Digital developed robust Ad Hoc features within the game, which are now even more accessible through adhocParty. We saw this as a tremendous opportunity to enhance the PSP system’s online gaming experience and bring the service to our North American consumers.”
