EyePet Delayed to 2010

eyepetToday Sony announced that EyePet was not going to make its November debut, and had been pushed back to 2010 for marketing reasons. This surely puts a small dent in Sony’s  push for “The Year of the PS3″. I finally think Sony has made this year “The year of the price cut” and pushed the real “Year of the PS3″ to 2010, like they did last year. Press Release below:

“The North American territory has decided to take additional time to focus on the EyePet product and can confirm it will not be available this holiday. EyePet is an innovative and exciting new IP to the PS3 platform and SCEA marketing will spend additional time to continue educating consumers and retail channels, setting the table for a successful product launch. We will provide more details on an updated launch time-frame very soon.”

Update: This is a North America delay only…

In a rare case of Brits catching a break from the videogame industry, Sony has announced that the UK release of EyePet will not be affected by the annoying 2010 delay that North American gamers have been subjected to. EyePet will be available in time for the holidays, with a release date of October 23.
